Kathleen Weaver Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Kathleen Weaver of Mount Vernon, Ohio, who passed away on July 9, 2023 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by : her parents, Arthur Brownfield and Lucy Brownfield. She is survived by : her daughters, Debra Gyamfi (Bernard) of Lowell, MI and Linda Comiskey (Richard) of Lowell, MI. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and many extended family.
It is with a heavy heart and a flood of tears that I post the obituary of our beloved friend and classmate, Sharon Thomas Downs.
Spence-Miller Funeral HomeSharon L. Downs( April 26, 1946 - September 04, 2023 ) Sharon L. Downs age 77, of Grove City, Ohio passed away September 4, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born April 26, 1946, to the late Ralph Rush and Opal (Wade) Thomas. Sharon was the owner of Artistic Angle Hair Salon. Sharon was very active with anything she did, from her church, Grove City United Methodist Church, and with the Grove City community which included The Grove City Community Club, Buddy Ball, Grove City Tree Festival and Grove City Town Center to name a few. She was preceded in death by sister Aneva Jean (Dutch) Weber. Survivors include her husband Joe Downs, children Shane (Mila) Williams, Shar (John) Weber, Scott (Jenni) Williams and Zach (Renee) Downs; grandchildren Taylor (Mary), Megan (Ali), Logan, Brayden, Olivia, Campton, Maci and Sutton, great grandchild Brooks and brothers Larry (Theresa) Thomas and Daryl (Deb) Thomas. Friends may visit Friday September 8, 2023, from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 pm, at Grove City United Methodist Church 2684 Columbus Street, Grove City, Ohio. Interment will follow at Grove City Cemetery. Theodore (Ted) Albert Rice June 18, 1946 - March 28, 2023 Theodore Albert(Ted) Rice passed away in Savannah, Georgia on March 28, 2023, after a long struggle to recover froman aortic aneurysm. Hewas born June 18, 1946, in Columbus,Ohio. Ted graduated fromGrove City High School and followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps going to work for theNorfolk Southern Railroad. He enlisted in theNavy and served two tours of duty in VietNamwith the last being on swift boats patrolling the rivers and the delta. After the Navy he attended Franklin University earning a bachelor’s degree in business. He had a wide range of business employmentincluding theMiller Funeral Home in Grove City, Coca Cola Distribution, and WasteManagementlandfillmanagement. Next, he began working with people as an organizer for theOhio FarmBureau and with theOhio American Legion where he lobbied for veteran’s benefits and helped veterans apply for the benefits to which they were entitled. His final employer was the State of Ohio, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation where hewas the director of Self Insurance. Through all his experiences he learned that hewas truly an entrepreneur. He founded the Ricwell Corporation that provided expertmedical testimony for litigated cases. Tedmerged hiscompany with othersimilarcompanies and became part of the ExamWorks Corporation. A highlightfor himwas standing on the floor of theNewYork Stock Exchangewhen the company went public. Tedmarried Caryl Moler in 1984 and while inOhio lived in Southern Delaware County, on a farm in Madison County, and atIndian Lake. After retirementtheymoved to Jekyll Island, Georgia. Ted has madewonderful friends wherever worked and lived. Ted was amember of theGrove City Masonic Lodge, the Indian LakeMoose Lodge, and the Jekyll Island Rotary Club where he became themaster fund raiser. Through the years hewas amember of theGrove City Lutheran Church, Liberty Presbyterian Church, and the Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church. Ted’s hobbies included swapping stories with his many friends and his 56 Chevy with which he had a love-hate relationship. Ted is survived by his wife Caryl, his sister Gayle Rice, his stepson Robert(Bo) Snide (Tracy) and granddaughters Emma and Abby. He is also survived by his niece JulieMorrison, nephewJohn Morrison (Vickie) and grandnephewJohn Reagan Morrison who Ted always thought of as his grandson. Hewas preceded in death by his father, Theodore (Bud) Rice andmother, Laura Tomlinson Rice. Calling hours will be on April 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM followed by a service atNoon atthe Ferguson Funeral Home 202 EastMain Street Plain City,Ohio 43064. Burial will followatthe Forest Grove Cemetery. A celebration of lifewill be held on Jekyll Island April 12, 2023, at 4:00 PM at the Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church followed by a gathering at Ted’s favorite spot, Tribuzio’s Grille. 1946 - 2020
Larry Roberson, age 74, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents Mildred and George Daugherty. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; son, Gabe; grandchildren, Logan, Markus (Jenn), Mackenzie, Mallory, Mason Willis; nephews, Creigh (Teresa) Mock, Brian (Tammy) Compton, Chris (Brigette) Compton, Joey (Shirlena) Compton; sister, Linda (Rob) Compton; sister-in-law, Virginia (George) Mock; the Hickey family of Chicago, IL and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and brothers of the Jackson Township and Columbus Fire Departments. Larry retired from the Jackson Township Fire Department after 26 years of service, and then went on to drive a school bus for Southwestern City Schools for more than a decade. Larry was the first Fire Fighter to have an Associate's Degree in Fire Science at Jackson Township. He was a member of the American Legion Post 164, Elks Lodge BPOE #37, and the Masonic Lodge of Grove City. Larry enjoyed sports his whole life and was a team mate of many while bowling, a USSSA Umpire, an avid card player and loved to garden. He wanted everyone to be joyful in Jesus. A visitation will be held for Larry at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 4-8 pm with an Elk's service beginning at 7:30 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 10:30 am with visitation from 9-10:30 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Jackson Township Christmas Toy Drive. Paul Farrell(1946 - 2019)
1946 - 2019
Dr. Paul William Farrell II went to be with The Lord on April 22, 2019. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on April 12, 1946, to Dorothy and Paul Farrell. He was valedictorian at Grove City High School, graduated in the top of his class from the US Air Force Academy where President Nixon presented him with his diploma and graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He served 17 years in the US Air Force, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before going into private practice in cardiology in Jacksonville, FL. He practiced interventional cardiology for 32 years at Baptist Medical Center before retiring in June of 2014. During this time, he led and served in many roles, including participation on numerous boards and was Chief of Staff at Downtown Baptist. He was the ultimate patient advocate! He was passionate about patient care, patient education, and the advancement of medicine. He was most appreciated by his patients for pulling up a stool and giving each of them his undivided time and attention. Over the years he volunteered in various roles in his church, youth athletics, and medical advancement on the local and national levels. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family. He was most happy spending time with the family somewhere on or by the water. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Karen Farrell; his daughter, Christina Anderson (Dave); his sons, Paul III (Lauren) and Scott (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Will, John, Ellie, Paulo, Charlie, and Eva; his mother and step-father, Dorothy and Donald Burke; his sisters, Dorothy McKahan (Gene) and Janet Olafson (Steve); his brother, Ronald Burke; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Paul Farrell. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 at 11 am at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207. All are welcome to attend a lunch reception immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida at 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257 or "All Pro Dad" at 5509 W. Gray St., Suite 100, Tampa, FL 33609.
